bw plays ball. the tigers roll on. school ends.
we've known for quite some time that bw is a little more coordinated, a little more smooth than most kids his age. in his first attempt at organized baseball he pretty much did as we expected. with a little bit of dirt kicking and cartwheeling thrown in. and he loved it all! halfway through the season the league switched to coach's pitch and he confirmed mw's suspicions (developed in countless hours of backyard wiffle ball) that his hand-eye coordination is phenomenal.
aw's new team has been awesome. she hooked back up with a friend she played with in kindergarten. her dad and another friend's dad have put together a really great team. and though aw has yet to score, she has really come into her own as a position player. she has great ball control and a good feel for the field. she has learned to drop her shoulder (courtesy of backyard tangles with cw) and find open people on the field.
cw was once again the kid of the year in his class. i am blanking on the actual name of the award. aw did not get get an award this year at the assembly (she was pretty bummed) but she did make unbelievable progress as a reader and in her math work. she got the class award for hard work. not super excited about it.
the last day of school also happened to be the first really nice day of the year. sad. anyway, the kids were pumped for all the things summer holds.
aw's teacher has been a fantastic part of our lives the last two years. she pushed cw to reach higher and has helped aw build the confidence she needs to succeed in the classroom.
