cw's all-star tournaments have been taking us an hour south for the last couple of weekends. longview/kelso may be a youth baseball tournament mecca, but it is also one of the most white trash towns i have ever had the displeasure of visiting. regardless, cw had a great weekend. he was in double digits for hits, rbis, and very surprisingly, steals. in the midst of stealing second, i heard aw yell, "drop the piano and run!" sadly, i agreed. unless he gets a good jump or it's a pass ball, i hold my breath. he looked solid in the field. he's long and lean and looks so good on first. very few get by him. if the ball is anywhere near first, he's gonna get it. they went 5-0, to get to the championship. then they ran out of steam. and a local ump put a nail in their coffin. they lost to the kelso team. they looked pissed, too. no smiles in the pictures with the second place trophy. it was a bit of a tight squeeze in the hotel room. all suites were booked a few weeks before the tourney. we didn't plan ahead quite as well.
