soccer.

last spring aw played soccer. and by "played," i mean she was on the roster. i think she participated in two, maybe three, kickoffs. she loved the uniform. she loved wearing the shin guards. she did not like the contact. she sat on the sidelines, eating snacks, cheering for cw, and adjusting her "i love soccer" headband. she quite obviously did not love soccer. so, my expectations for this year were minuscule. i could not be more pleased, or more proud, to announce that she is the bumpinest, roughest, grittiest kid on the field. all of the wrestling and defensive maneuvering in the backyard has really paid dividends. she looks great on the field. she's got long legs and she's quick. unlike our poor cw, who looks like he's dragging a baby grand around the bases. she really looks good. and i'm glad there's an outlet for her built up i-wanted-a-sister-and-you-didn't-deliver rage. she seems to be coming in to her own as the leader of a bunch of tough boys. we'll see what the rest of the season holds.
