a scavenger hunt for the ages.

after cw's bday dinner, we told the kids that we had a special treasure hunt planned for them. at the end of the hunt they would find a surprise for the entire family. i handed them the first clue and they were off. (a scavenger hunt is so much more fun when one of the hunters reads the clues.) mw chased them around the house, out to the trampoline, to the trunk of his car, and eventually, into our room. their suitcases were sitting on the floor, packed and ready to go. when they opened the bags they found new dvd players for the car and an invitation to disneyland. cw looked at mw, kind of confused, kind of excited. "really?" he asked. mw nodded. cw grabbed aw by the shoulders, shook her, and yelled, "we're going to disneyland!" there was a lot of screaming and laughing and jumping around. they wanted to know when we were going. when mw told them that we were leaving the next evening, they nearly came unglued. it was perfect!
