eleven feet, four inches.

we decided to pick out a tree a little early this year. it's hard to know if the weather will cooperate, so we took advantage of yesterday's nice weather and went to tom's to pick a tree. we were, not surprisingly, the only people on the farm. we looked at blue spruces, which we had last year, but went for a more traditional green tree. we found a gigantically fat christmas tree, which we loved. but opted for something else. i told mw i wanted the griswold experience. to walk into an opening and have light shine down on our tree, the hallelujah chorus playing quietly in the background. after an advanced search, some whining on mw's part, and way too long with thirty four pound gw in the front carrier, we found our tree, a beautiful noble fir. the vote was unanimous. mw cut it down and he and the kids knelt down to smell the potent stump. we tried to drag the tree to the car, but a branch broke and we decided to carry it. it was quite heavy. we did manage to get it on top of the car with little trouble. mw cut six inches from the trunk and carried it into the house to set it up. it touches the ceiling at the highest point. mw strung one thousand plus lights. but it looks beautiful. and we all love it.

yes, i am wearing long underwear. and the tree is anchored to the wall.
