i was nervous. i had butterflies. some of our scrimmages haven't been pretty. i had no idea what to expect on saturday. i'll be honest. my expectations were not high. they were quite low. but, man, did we deliver. steilacoom was not great, by any standards. but we looked good. we moved the ball. we didn't fumble. we made some great tackles and some even greater blocks. it was a good day. our boys were ready and got the job done. cw ran the ball once, for about three yards. but he had some good hits and a key block that cleared the lane for a long touchdown run. there is no greater time of year than football season. and it is even better when one of your own is in the mix.
cw was chosen as one of the captains for our first game.

the post-victory speech was pretty cool. i think the parents were just as excited as the boys.

cw's buddy, trey, and his family came out to the game. though not having family near is rough, our friends have really stepped it up.

armed with a bag of treats and plenty to drink, the younger kids played and cheered and wreaked relatively little havoc during the game.
