holiday

i had really planned on catching up on this when we returned home to indiana. but now that we're home, i can't make myself update it. i have had the best time with matt and the kids and i am so not looking forward to real life. we have had two and a half weeks of hang out time. we have come and gone as we pleased and slept in and stayed up late and gone to bed early. we have spent entire days in sweats and eaten pancakes and crispy bacon for breakfast. we have gone sledding in the mountains and played on the beach. we took ferry rides to and from a small island in canada and had our first taste of canadian caramel mackintosh candy bars and we are in love. we have opened presents and more presents and packed and unpacked and eaten treats that have made our teeth and tummies hurt. matt and i have laughed until our sides hurt and cried at airports saying goodbye to family we do not see nearly enough. in washington i signed on for a star wars marathon and made it through thirty minutes of the first one. i watched the kids go sledding behind the john deere in 50 degree weather and helped my father-in-law winterize his boat. i realized how really great matt's mom is and what a great sense of humor she has. i met my beautiful niece for the first time and am thoroughly impressed with my brother-in-law's parenting skills. beckett took his first real steps . . . and then decided it wasn't for him. matt finally bought me the uggs that i have pestered him about for five years. valeri spent her first christmas away from home and . . . she survived. matt and i went out on new year's, for the first time in a long time, with friends that we really dig. the kids have been great. they have been spoiled and scolded and hugged and kissed to tears. and it has been a wonderful christmas break. in spite of it all, i fell in love with matt all over again. and if july 2009 rolls around and he wants to sign up for more school or move to greenland, i'm in.
