coop and pain had a check up at the dentist today and much to matt's chagrin, ains, dear, sweet, sugar-addicted ainsley, has no cavities. what can i say? she loves candy and now i have no reason to limit her intake. matt is honestly pleased that she has no decay, but i think it bothers him a little bit that i am actually brushing and flossing her teeth as often as i say i am. i think it is something he would love to jump on my case about. the kids were great and everything was fine until dr. dean put the vitamin varnish on ainsley's teeth. she did not love it, at all. thirty minutes later she was still complaining. she carried a paper towel to spit in, as she refused to swallow her spit. matt bought her a sprite when we got to target but she said it did not help. she told matt she needed a drink of his diet pop. he obliged her and she proceeded to use it as mouthwash. she took a huge drink and spit it everywhere. and then she was fine.
while matt took coop to see the waterhorse, for the second time in 10 days, ains and i hung out and watched girl movies at home. matt and coop got home while ains was watching a barbie princess movie. matt and i noticed that coop was hanging out in the living room watching the movie. usually he runs out of the room when ains picks out a girl movie. when we asked him what on earth he was doing he told us he was looking out the window. ten minutes later, we asked him again and he said he was still looking out the window. i walked into the room and did not see him, so i called to him upstairs. no answer. so i looked under the window, between the love sack and the brown chair. there he was, curled up in the corner, watching the barbie princess movie. so we teased him. and then we told him that it was okay to like girl movies. after all, matt's favorite movies from his childhood were the sound of music and mary poppins. (he knows all the words; just ask him.)
as a tribute to cooper, i have decided to start calling "family home evening" "home family evening." instead of fhe, it is now hfe. does it really matter? i mean, as long as we spend time together on monday nights, does it really make a difference what we call it?
when i returned home sunday night from the avon ward conference matt told me that ains was one of the "stars" in primary. when the answers from her questionnaire were read out loud no one had a clue who the "star" was. these were her stats:
1. this person has two brothers.
2. her favorite food is crackers.
3. her favorite colors are red and purple.
4. her favorite song is "i am trying to be like jesus."
5. her favorite story in the scriptures is jesus.
6. her favorite thing about serving a mission is that her daddy served a mission and she
loves her daddy.
even after they read all of these things, ainsley had no idea who it was about. matt said she was oblivious to everything that was going on; eventually matt guessed that it was her and she got her "star" paper with a starburst.
coop spent the weekend at mom's so it was pretty quiet here friday and saturday. mom said he told her that he wanted to see us and give us hugs and kisses and then go back to her house to live forever. it's a nice thought.
