baseball comes to an end.

cw's baseball team finished strong this season with a win on saturday. the sun was shining. it was a perfect day for baseball. it was a great season. i think it would be a stretch to say that we won as many as we lost. but we owned the base race that followed each game. cw had a good season: caught a little, played a lot of second base, got a few good hits, struck out a few times, and made some really good friends. we had a really great coach, someone who was more concerned with the character of the boys than their stats. he really was wonderful. we spent the afternoon at the lake at the home of a boy on his team. the boys were excited to get their trophies and had a blast playing in the lake. i'm really proud of cw. though he had some rough patches during the season, i.e. crying after strikeouts, exhibiting type a personality traits on the field, he didn't lose his love for the game or the desire to keep playing. i'm a little sad to see it end. it's been a good year.
