lexington.

we opted to travel to lexington for two days with mw. our other option was to stay at home and mope around without him. not much thought had to be put into that decision. we left early monday morning, dropped mw at the university of kentucky dental school, and ventured off into the wide open pastures of lexington. we drove around, aimlessly, for about fifteen minutes. i cursed the damn garmin for fourteen of those minutes. i entered "walmart" and it took me to sam's club. i was irritated to the point of extreme anger. so we went to the hotel. and what do you know? walmart was right across the street. there is something so wonderful about walmart. it doesn't matter where you are -ft. myers beach, lexington, ky., golden, co., bellingham, wa.- they are all the same. okay, sometimes the food is on the left and sometimes it is on the right, but once you figure it out, it's all the same. riccolaaaaaaaaaaa. ridiculousssssssssssss. (you listen to collin, right?) so, after the aphrodisiac that is walmart, we swam at the hotel and ate dinner at chili's with mw. the kids were trashed. bw asked to go to bed. baby g missed his bed, which, i am happy to say, is now in a room of it's own. but that is neither here nor there. cw slept with baby g and i. aw, mw, and bw slept together. not the best night ever. for me. mw slept like the dead. at one point, i picked up the remote control to throw at him and cw said, "mom, i really don't think you should throw that at dad. i'll just go wake him and tell him to roll over."
mw woke us early tuesday morning to take him back to campus. did i mention that he is doing dna analyses in a genetics lab for his thesis? he is. and it's boring. so back to us. after a quick breakfast we got back in the pool. the gentleman at the front desk was good enough to give us an extra hour before checkout. thank heaven. it was not fun to pack and load by myself. we traveled to the kentucky horse park, where we spent a wonderful afternoon, quietly walking through the paddocks and watching the beautiful thoroughbreds race through lush, green fields of billowing bluegrass. it was marvelously serene. the kids rode ponies and saw funny cide and kona gold in the "hall of champions" barn. mw called as we were walking through the front gates. we picked him up and headed back to our own little piece of heaven on earth. i mean manchester. a great weekend. or monday/tuesday.
