i really, really, really tried to enjoy conference today. the two little boys snoozed soundly in their beds. aw was at the table with her paper and crayons. mw and i were snuggled on the couch ready to partake of the wonderful blessing that is conference. and then . . . IT began. how old is president monson? who is that? what does salvation mean? who was the prophet after joseph smith? who was the first prophet? is that woman wearing a man's suit? and on and on and on. the questions do not frustrate me so much as the lack of thought put into thirty percent of them. every once in a while cw asks a series of questions to which he already knows the answers. he just doesn't think before he speaks. remind you of anyone? honestly, i am most thoroughly frustrated by my inability to answer his questions. i remember my mother telling me that i drove her nuts when i was a child with my constant questioning. what's that saying about paybacks?
the parts of conference that i did overhear were comforting beyond measure. i don't spend an obscene amount of time stressing about the future and what it holds. but is there anything more wondrous than hearing a prophet of God tell us that the future is still bright? that there is joy to be had in the darkness that will come. i also enjoyed the counsel that was given concerning change. i know that things have to change and i want them to. but that doesn't mean that it won't be difficult. i also know that with the love of a compassionate Savior and the support of two really wonderful families, we will be fine. i heard the things that i was meant to hear. and the rest, i can catch later. for now, i'm busy. i've got some questions to answer.
