lake cushman and the staircase trail that we never made it to.

we tried to get out and see a few things while my family was here. after much coaxing we decided to drive out to lake cushman and walk the staircase trail. it was a beautiful drive. about twenty minutes into our hike, uncle mw decided that he would take the older kids off the trail. the next thing we know, we hear my niece screaming and aw crying. apparently, she slipped off a log and landed in a patch of stinging nettles. after that, our hearts just weren't in the hike. we made it another thirty minutes and headed back to the bridge to try out the water. mw said it was three degrees above freezing, which made cw's jaunt into the middle of the stream very exciting. he's generally pretty reserved. we stopped for ice cream, woohoo to whoever created lavender lemon, and headed home with a very unhappy little girl and eight sleepy kids.
