my boys of fall.
football is here. cw's first game was yesterday. not a cloud in the sky. eighty degrees by game time. perfect. cw's buddy ran the first play of the game all the way in for six. we couldn't convert on the extra point. that extra point and another one later in the game eventually spelled our doom. we lost 12-14. but the boys were in good spirits. no crying or complaining about playing time or plays run. cw and the center need a little work. nothing that can't be fixed with time and repetition. cw looked good. a little slow, but that seems to be his cross to bear. as his mother, i will simply say that i am relived beyond words that he was not plagued with the same slippery hands of his predecessor. i know mw is beating himself up a little bit. wondering what plays he could have called differently. and honestly, sometimes i think it would be easier to be parents who never volunteer to coach, the ones who just sit, quietly or otherwise, on the sideline and cheer for their children. but that's just not who we are. or who we'll ever be.
