winter wonderland. for few days.
i popped my head out my front door and found this two weeks ago. a no-school day for sure. i could hardly get the kids' snow gear on fast enough. gw watched from the window for a while. i eventually gave in and bundled him up, complete with girly scarf. the kids and mw built two ice sculptures in the back (this snow was the best packing snow i had ever seen). for four days they played outside, stopping only long enough for lunch, an occasional cartoon, and gallons of hot cocoa. i love these days. the world stops. no church callings. no pta. no school schedules or practices. everything comes to an abrupt halt. we are concerned only with keeping long underwear and mittens dry and whether we want cool whip or marshmallows, big or small, in our cocoa. for four days it was peaceful and quiet. the kids were too in awe of the weather and all of its possibilities to fight. we wore sweats and wool socks and pulled all of the blankets from their hiding spots. i love these days. they are the ones that i want always to remember. i don't know how i could forget.
