the end of 2010.

we picked up some fresh crab on our way home from the mountain. and by fresh, i mean it was caught that morning.
mw was concerned that i might not enjoy the succulent dish. he was wrong. though it was so good, butter was unnecessary.
mw ate his fair share. but his hands and clothes smelled like death. luckily, our house didn't completely absorb the smell. oh, how i love yankee candles.
the kids love these weird cookies. they basically never set up, so it's like eating warm, sugary dough with a face on it. and you never get tired of them. so you can eat forty and then move on to the next treat.
we decided to let the chips fall where they may. bw was gone at 9:40. no surprise there.
this crew made it 'til midnight. cw was really struggling at the end. eyelids fluttering, mumbling, twitching. aw could have kept going.
at 10:40 we put this kid in bed. he was barely moving. very quiet. all very uncharacteristic.

it has been a great year. no major accidents, no hospital stays, nothing we couldn't handle. we find that the good always outweighs the bad, no matter how bad the bad is. we keep moving forward, getting used to our new home, making good friends, still missing family but being content with the knowledge that they are happy and well. after all, we don't need much more than health and happiness and each other.

I can't believe you ate crab, Erica. How delightful. There is a restaurant in Seattle on the water down, from the market, called The Crab Pot - you guys must eat there - yummy.....
