i went into the national championship game with a deep and abiding loathing for colt mccoy. one series in, i changed my tune. all i could think about was the end of the game. (texas really had no chance, even with the heroic comeback. a total fluke.) i could see his face, the face of the better quarterback. disappointed, defeated. unable to fully grasp all that had been lost. totally overwhelmed. i really never thought texas was the underdog. i hate the underdog. the underdog should not win. thus, the name. the under dog. below the dog. alabama was the underdog. and they should not have won. remove ingram from the equation and what are you left with? not much. mcelroy? a non-factor. smart? yes. a great football player? no. no way. how can alabama possibly walk away from that victory with any sense of accomplishment? i am disgusted. and once again reminded of a need for a bcs playoff.
