bw's team won 5-1. he is the smallest and youngest kid on the team. so he's sporting #1. he's playing with a team made up of second and third graders. he and his buddy are the only kindergarteners on the roster. he played in the outfield and made a great play, scooping a hard hit grounder that the ss missed. he gunned it to second and held the kid at first. a very big deal for bw. he was the #12 batter. bottom of the list. but he had a huge smile on his face and got up and hit the first pitch. it was a grounder between the machine and the first basemen. he was slow out of the box (i think he was surprised he hit the first pitch) and the first basemen beat him to the bag by a step. his great attitude and habitual smile have made him a favorite on his team, even with the big kids. the coaches and most of the players met him at the gate to high five him. during the base race, he did more of a showboat jog than an all out sprint around the bases, but he kept the lead his team had and they finished just fine. it was a pretty great day for bwall.
i didn't see much of cw's game, as i was on bw duty and they played at the same time. he pitched two innings, striking out four, with no hits and no walks. he got a hit and played first and caught. they won 10-3, against a team they should have beat in a scrimmage last weekend. they looked great today. a good day for the wall kids.
