seattle super sports saturday.
we headed to seattle saturday morning with a lot of snacks and a change of clothes. we hit the sounders game first. aw and i sat with her soccer team in the nose bleeds and mw sat with the boys in the club seats. how is that fair? it's not. at half time the boys met us to grab nachos and pretzels near our seats. we weren't allowed to venture into the club dining area without tickets. the boys had a sounders shirt for me because they thought it was lame that i wasn't wearing supportive gear. though we sat near the portland fans, it was a good game and the sounders actually scored. twice. a sports miracle. soccer, blagh. so not exciting. i have a hard time figuring out what the fans are so crazy about. mw thinks that non-athletes love soccer because it's the only sport they were ever capable of playing. for mw, soccer is the sport everyone plays until they are old enough to realize they have no athletic ablility and need to give up the dream, and/or it is the sport that everyone plays until the really gifted athletes pick a real sport to pursue. like baseball, football, basketball, volleyball. basically any other sport known to man. possibly even curling. the soccer players are then left to themselves to get excited over mediocre ability and low scoring games. i tend to agree. though i do love to see cw and aw's long-legged strides on the field. anyway, the sounders won.
on to part two of our day. we drove down to the waterfront to eat at red robin. after dinner we changed into our mariners apparel and jumped back into the car to drive to safeco field. oh, how i love the ball field. i love cotton candy and nachos and pizza and garlic fries and diet coke and dustin ackley. the mariners aren't bad either.
after enjoying all of our ballpark favorites and singing cw's favorite song, we ventured to the seats in the field. along the way, we got our picture taken with the moose (totally blanking on his name). we sat for the last two innings in the right field seats. the mariners won. both of our teams won. it was the perfect day. honestly, there are very few days that have been as incredibly great as this one. we didn't hit traffic, we parked right next to both stadiums and the restaurant. both of our teams earned wins. the kids were so well-behaved people stopped us to compliment them. unbelievable. what a good life we have.

i am only slightly offended by the soccer part of this post and now hope Cooper becomes a professional soccer player. to each their own. i felt the same way about baseball until the Mariners played 400 innings against Orioles.
