aw's soccer buddies: ashlyn, brady, and curran.
aw's team has been playing together for two years and they are finally putting it all together. she scored her first goal. she looked just as surprised as i felt. this is our third season and our first score. it was more a case of being in the right place at the right time but she took advantage of it. she's fun to watch because she plays like no one else is watching her. she skips and laughs and runs fast. a gpa caught me at the end of the game and asked if the little girl in the red socks was mine. i was prepared for a comment about her adorableness. i was not prepared to hear him say that he loved watching her play. he called her "tenacious." he loved that she was always willing to get in the fray. she was spunky and focused. the last two aw soccer experiences were completely overshadowed by today's performance.
gpa was able to watch bw's practice friday night and his game saturday morning. bw thinks gpa gary is pretty great.
bw's first soccer game was this morning. he was very excited. that excitement manifest itself in a hilarious way. he was more than willing to kick the ball when it was in front of him. and run fast after the other kids. and take a break when his turn came. he did not fully grasp the concept of the game. cw didn't at this age. neither did aw. in fact, cw sat in the bleachers and ate snacks the year i coached his three and four year old team. this was a drastic improvement from that. he did great. striking weird poses midfield. watching himself run. cheering when both teams scored. he was happy to there and that was enough for me.
