not enough hours in the day. or week.
a few days after mw left for hawaii, my mom came to visit. we were a little nervous about how the new hip would do, but she looked great and was no worse for wear when we nabbed her at the airport. we did the things that we do with gma. we went to the bakery, seven times in twelve days. that's what the bank account says. we ate fries and drank diet coke from mcds. she did loads and loads of laundry. i watched. she made needless piles of nothing on the counters. i nearly lost my mind. she nagged me about bedtime, what i ate, and going to the doctor. she gave baths, made snacks, played outside in the beautiful sunshine, and kissed babies until they cried. then mw came home. a few days later, aunt v and fig came to visit. fig just fell right into the routine. he tried, sometimes unsuccessfully, to stay out of gw's way. he kept his blanket and his bah close. gw was all over both. with mom and v here, i was able to sit with a dmd and the other parents and watch football and soccer practices. quite a luxury. on saturday we went to the little kids' soccer games and watched cw's team get thumped in the playoffs by the same team that killed them a few weeks ago. we went out to the mudflats near the sound to take some pictures. we ate french dip, baked spaghetti, enchiladas with green sauce, slow cooked barbecue chicken, pizza, and a million other yummy foods. cw lost a top tooth. aw got in a fight with aunt v when she scolded gw for pounding fig on the head. our time was well-spent. lots of cartoons, treats, snuggling, kisses, noise, and laughter. after dropping our ladies at the airport, we headed back home for soccer and football. in the rain. cw's team played great. they won by one touchdown. cw sacked the quarterback twice! we could hear his helmet crunch against the quarterback's. he jumped up and struck the heisman pose. he also did it after his second sack. he caused a fumble and assisted on six other tackles. a good day for cw. our house is quiet now. it's been cold and rainy for a couple of days now. we are in our last week of football and soccer. i am sad and relieved at once. it has been crazy since football started in august. but i love watching the kids learn and grow physically. i love that they are learning to love the same things their parents love.
