christmas dinner in gig harbor.

so mw has this wonderful aunt in gig harbor. and uncle. and cousins. the dogs? not so much. i feel like we have been ripped off. why are we just now discovering how cool this aunt is? maybe mw knew all along. it is possible that he never got the chance to tell me, as i do most of the talking around our house. i have actually found myself battling for i-love-the-sound-of-my-own-voice time. who does cw think he is? this is my show. where am i going with this? oh yes. aunt b. after enjoying a peaceful christmas morning in our home, we packed the kids into the old vannigan and headed to gig harbor. we crossed the tacoma narrows bridge to get to gig harbor. at least i think that's what it was. so i'm going to keep writing as if it was, even if it wasn't. because i have a train of thought i would like to stay on. so, how many of you remember watching the tacoma narrows bridge video in third grade? remember. there was that dog on the bridge and a car? remember? well i do. because i am better than you in every way. so, the bridge is a little more sophisticated than the one in the video. and bw yelled "look at the bitch, dad" from the backseat at least twenty times. we are struggling a little with that one word. so we arrived at aunt b's house and fell easily into conversation with her three wonderful children and dil. she had some of her leftover snickers bars on the counter. when i make them, using her recipe, they never taste as good. i will love her forever for serving prime rib instead of ham or turkey. ewww. the prime rib was delicious and the martenelli's toast was even better. we really felt at home. each of the kids, and mw and i, had something under the tree. it was wonderful. on the ride home, the younger three kids fast asleep, mw and i remarked that it had been exactly what we needed. thank you, hilen family. you made our day.
