we had a lot of family time today. the younger three kids and i met cw for lunch at his school. amazingly, bw was great. i finished the invitations for an upcoming stake meeting and weed's baby shower/brunch invitations. and they turned out really cute. mw got home early from whatever he was doing, eating lunch at chili's, hanging out with friends, touring a wire factory, etc., and we decided to take the kids bowling for home family evening. again, i was nervous about bw. maybe he has turned a corner. he was well behaved, somewhat quiet. i couldn't ask for more. aw lost interest after the fourth frame. cw gladly took over for her. bowling was his favorite game on the wii and he has been lamenting its return. all was well until it was time to leave. cue the cw pseudo-meltdown. he doesn't really cry or scream. he just gets really quiet and develops an incredibly unattractive facial tic. we came home to leftovers and a quick hfe lesson. the gist of it was, "you guys were really great today. but when it's time to leave, it's time to leave." most of this was directed towards cw. the kids were pj'd and in bed by 7:36. when the kids are tucked away, the adults will play . . .

I think Trace is way more excited about wearing the cool shoes than bowling.Maybe next time we should just rent shoes and call it a day.
