spring break, woohoo

of course it has rained the first two full days of matt's spring break. it was 65 degrees last week and the kids got sunburns, but not this week. we're stuck inside and coop is sick. he woke up yesterday and said he didn't feel well. so we let him hang out with us while ains went to school and he yakked in the tjmaxx parking lot. phlegm. bile. he didn't eat the entire day, or drink, and when ains and i got back from seeing "enchanted" for the fourth time, matt said he hadn't moved from his spot on the couch once. he woke up in the middle of the night last night with a temp of 105, which kind of freaked us out. it was miserable to even lay by him, as he was sweating so profusely, but matt didn't seem to mind. zzzzzz. so, very long and boring story short, the doctor said his ears are fluid-free and insanely inflamed. they had to irrigate them because of all the buildup. side note, i am one of those mothers who goes against doctors' orders and cleans the inside of her children's ears with q-tips every, single day. so i was kind of disgusted. after the second spray of warm hydrogen peroxide water, coop screamed bloody murder. two seconds later blood started pouring out of his ear. and then he freaked out even more because he cannot stand the site of blood. apparently a big piece of hard wax was stuck to the "fresh" skin in his ear and when it pulled loose, you guessed it, it pulled off the good skin too. it bled A LOT. after it was all over the doctor asked coop how his hearing was and he said, "it is very much a lot better." from his exuberant response i am wondering if he was half deaf before the procedure. he is now relaxing on the couch watching "the bee movie" and refusing to let matt lay by him.
the other day we were outside playing with some friends and coop fell in the freezing cold creek. luckily a friend of mine was on hand with her AMAZING camera to catch the misery that followed. she also caught a shot of ainsley on her new purple bike, i mean trike, and she took what is possibly the most honest photograph of ainsley that has ever been taken. there's also a picture of coop being knighted by one of his friends.
