suncadia, otherwise known as paradise.
this might be the most glorious twenty hours i have ever spent. with my kids, at the very least. we drove to the resort through a snow covered pass. quickly changed into swimwear and hit the pool and indoor water slides. cw and i made a mad dash to the outdoor pool, through the snow. but we didn't last long. we enjoyed gourmet pizza, a la room service, while watching the santa claus. we bundled up and walked down a quiet path, white lights strung above us, only the sound of the softly falling snow interrupting the silence. we laced up our ice skates (mw had to wear the figure skates with the toe pic) and spent two hours gliding around the lighted rink, christmas music playing in the clearing. cw and bw spent a lot of time on the ground. aw figured it out pretty quick and gw even managed to drag mw down once or twice. by extensive roller skating training proved useful and i pretty much rocked it. we warmed up by the fire before returning to the lodge for smores out back. gw and i retired inside early and watched a few cartoons in one of the many dens. we snuggled in the down blankets and watched duck dynasty (our new favorite). we awoke the next morning, ate a quick breakfast of ridiculously sugary cereals, and hit the sledding hill. admittedly, it is wonderful to ride the tow rope up the hill. but it certainly makes you feel lazy. pound for pound, this was the best money and time spent in quite a while. the kids can't wait for another weekend getaway.
