mother's day 2011.
i love that as the kids get older, holidays mean more. mw no longer has to pick out gifts and sign five names in a card. each child picks his own card to give and a small treasure to gift. occasionally they even agree to give the same gift. i love that each mother's day morning finds me sleeping late and rising to the smell of my two favorite things: lemon poppyseed muffins and crispy bacon. the kids are waiting with kind words and kisses; very little prompting is needed. i love the funny, little things they make at school and at the kitchen table when they think i'm not looking. they're always so excited to see my reaction. so i make sure it's a bit over the top. i am thankful that i have four healthy, happy children and a husband who wants nothing more than to love us unconditionally and take care of us. he asks nothing more than our love in return. i am thankful for my own mother. and i want only for my children to love and respect me the way i love and respect her. happy mother's day.
